Are False Beliefs Holding You Back?

Are false beliefs holding you back?

Are False Beliefs Holding You Back?

Are false beliefs holding you back?

Are false beliefs holding you back?

We talk to ourselves all the time.

We are telling ourselves what we are, what we can expect of ourselves and even what others believe about us.

And it’s probably a lie.

Today is the anniversary of the birth date of René Descartes (1596-1650).

Descartes came up with an interesting philosophy called Cartesian Doubt.

It involves a systematic process of being skeptical or doubting the truth of one’s beliefs.

Descartes sought to doubt the truth of all his beliefs in order to determine which he could be sure were true.

He developed a technique that is widely used in Neurolinguistic Programming or NLP.

Listen to this here:

Using this method, he hoped to systematically doubt all of his beliefs in order to rebuild his belief system with only things that were true.

There’s something to be learned here.

What we believe about ourselves determines what we become.

If a person’s self-belief is that he/she is ugly, they will act accordingly.

If a person believes they are a failure, they will continue to fail.

Sit down and make your own list of self-beliefs. What do you think of yourself?

Be completely honest. Write what you actually NOW believe, not what you want to believe.

How are these beliefs affecting your success?

The good news is that you can create new “truths” or beliefs that become your reality.

That’s how NLP works.

But applying this same thinking, you can lose your fear of trying something new.[mlsp-cta campaign=”bizbuildermasterynet” layout=”standard” align=”right”]

You should ask yourself,

  1. What would happen if I did?
  2. What would happen if I didn’t?
  3. What would not happen if I did?
  4. What would not happen if I didn’t?

You can logically approach your challenges losing your false fears of what might or might not happen.

You can feel good about your decisions and proceed with confidence once your false beliefs are laid to rest.

So Happy Birthday to Descartes. Thanks for giving us Cartesian doubt to play with.

Pretty interesting, isn’t it? I have a friend who is an NLP therapist and she told me about it.
